About MEMI

MEMI is one of South Korea's top guitarists. She started as a singer-songwriter in May 2022, after building an audience by posting electric guitar videos and original songs on social media. Growing up on pop-punk, alternative rock, and nu-metal from the early 2000s, plus playing guitar for indie bands like '24 Hours' in the 2010s, shaped her sound. Her music keeps the kitsch alive in heavy guitar-driven tracks, with catchy riffs and original lyrics she posts online.

• • Started playing guitar at 16, learning from her uncle who gave her her first Fender guitar.
• • First song she learned: Avril Lavigne's "Sk8er Boi".
• • Saw Avril Lavigne perform in Korea at 18 and never forgot when she played "Girlfriend".
