The short version

• No account, no sign-up, and nothing you type is stored, because there is nothing to type into.
• Your IP address is hashed before it is written down, and the raw address is never stored.
• Traffic data stays on this server. It is not sold, shared, or handed to an analytics provider.
• Google serves the adverts, and Google sets its own cookies when it does. That part is not under this site's control, and the opt-out links are below.

What this site records

Every page view writes one row, holding:

• The path you visited, and its query string
• The referring URL, if your browser sent one
• Browser, operating system, and device class (desktop, mobile, tablet), read off the user agent string
• A SHA-256 hash of your IP address, salted with the application key. The raw address is never written to disk.
• Your country, and your state or province, looked up from your IP address on this server with the free DB-IP database. The city is not recorded, and the address is not sent anywhere. Country counts, and the busiest states and provinces for the US and Korea, appear in the Fans box on every page.
• A random session identifier, so a run of pages read in one sitting counts as one visit rather than nine
• A timestamp

There is no name, no email address, no location finer than a state or province, and no attempt to work out who you are. Requests that look like crawlers are skipped entirely. Rows are deleted automatically after 400 days.

Cookies this site sets

memi_lang

Remembers whether you chose English or Korean. One year.

memi_theme

Remembers whether you chose the black print or the light one. One year.

memi_analytics_sid

A random identifier that ties several page views into one visit. It is linked to nothing else and identifies nobody. Thirty days, refreshed on each visit.

XSRF-TOKEN and the session cookie

Standard Laravel cookies that keep form submissions safe from cross-site request forgery. They expire when your session does.

Advertising

This site uses Google AdSense to serve adverts, which is how its hosting is paid for.

• Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve adverts to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.
• You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings.

This site does not receive your personal data from Google, does not run its own ad targeting, and does not build a profile of you for advertising.

If you are in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland

Adverts served to you there run through Google's consent message, which asks before any personalised advertising cookie is set and records your answer. You can reopen that choice at any time from the privacy controls the message provides. Declining locks you out of nothing on this site.

Embedded content

Pages here embed players and images from YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and Spotify. When one of those loads, that service sees the request and applies its own privacy policy and its own cookies. This site cannot switch that off on their behalf, and it receives nothing back from them about you.

Your choices

• Blocking cookies for this domain costs you the language and theme memory, and nothing else.
• Sending Do Not Track, or running a content blocker, is respected in the sense that nothing here works around it.
• To have traffic rows from your visit deleted, or to ask what is held, write to the address below. Because IPs are hashed, you will need to say roughly when you visited.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and does not knowingly collect anything from them.

Changes

When this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top of the page changes with it.
